A Dentist or a Spanker?

A DENTIST accused of spanking the bare bottom of a 19-year-old trainee dental assistant wept yesterday after the professional conduct committee of the General Dental Council cleared him of the allegations.

The asistant, identified only as Miss A, alleged that James Aukett, 49, of Seaford, East Sussex, pulled down her knickers and put her across his knee while testing her knowledge of dentistry. She claimed that Mr Aukett had told her she would have to take off one item of clothing for every three questions she got wrong, and slapped her bottom for each mistake.

Miss A, who is now 26 and expecting her second child, added that she did not make a complaint against him at the time of the alleged incident, in April 1991, for fear of losing her job.

She said: "He was a person in authority. I thought everyone was going to believe him and not me."

But the committee heard that after the alleged incident she continued regularly to attend the fitness classes run by Mr Aukett, a former Olympic athlete, standing as close to him as possible. Miss A also dressed in stockings and high heels as a birthday surprise for him, kissing him on the cheek before presenting him with a cake, the committee heard.

Mr Aukett, a former director of dental services for the South Downs Health NHS Trust, was also cleared of making inappropriate comments filled with sexual innuendo to two other female members of staff. But the dentist, who works for a practice in Lewes, West Sussex, was found to have made an "inappropriate" comment to one other dental assistant

He admitted that he had threatened that she would have to remove an item of clothing if she could not correctly answer revision questions. He also made a lewd sexual comment in relation to her boyfriend. But her told the committee that these were jokes and "that was the tone and the atmosphere of the department at the time."

Mr Aukett was also found to have made a false declaration on his wife's application form for the National Examining Board for Dental Surgery Assistants. He wrongly certified that she had worked full time as a dental assistant for more than two years. But the committee ruled that neither of these two offences constituted serious professional misconduct. Mr Aukett buried his head in his hands and wept with relief at the verdict.

He refused to make any comment afterwards. But during the four-day hearing he had spoken of his "sheer horror" when he learned of the allegations.

A former policeman who spanked his 17-year-old au pair after ordering her to dress up in a school uniform has been found guilty of indecent assault.

Damien McColgan, a father-of-three with an interest in 'school-style discipline', bent the Austrian teenager over his knee and smacked her bottom six times at his home in Greenford, Middlesex.

But Judge Richard McGregor-Johnson, at Isleworth Crown Court, told McColgan, 38, he would not be sent to jail because the offence was 'not at that level of seriousness'.

My Long Wait

I flinched as I felt the Head Mistress tap her cane lightly across my tight bottom. She was getting her point of aim. My long wait was over!

It had been a good 45 minutes ago when I had sealed my own fate by committing the most reprehensible and unforgivable sin! I, with my class mates both boys and girls, was seated in the gym in rows of well spaced desks the studied silence broken only by the scratching of ink nibs on sheets of foolscap paper, the ticking of the clock as it counted out the minutes allowed for the paper and the occasional sigh uttered by an intellectually challenged examinee who had progressed no further than Q. 1. There was one other sound which I had failed to detect, the steady padding of the invigilator’s feet as she stole down the rows of desks to where I sat. A hand on my shoulder and a whispered “Come with me, boy!” and I rose, trembling, from my seat and accompanied her from the room. As the door closed behind us I heard my captor’s colleague murmur. “Carry on with your paper, please”.

Out in the corridor, having sent for a Prefect, she wrote a short note, folded it and handed it to me “Go with Caroline” she said indicating a sweet faced girl who had appeared by her side. She then returned to the gym from whence came an excited murmur and a sharp “Silence!”

I knew at that moment that I was in deep, deep trouble and that Caroline, who clearly knew the routine well, was taking me off to have my bottom caned! In case I had missed the point the angelic looking girl said “You are in real trouble! Come with me to the boys’ locker room!”

Caroline remained outside the locker room, as befitted a modest young lady. Her instructions, and I swear she licked her lips as she uttered them, were chillingly clear. I was to take off my trousers and underpants and don a pair of flimsy gym shorts. The reason was horribly clear, horribly, frighteningly clear.

I was a tall lad and wore long trousers. When I had carried out the orders of my toothsome escort and emerged into the corridor, I might just as well have had a notice hung round my neck proclaiming “THIS BOY IS OFF TO BE CANED!” No doubt intentionally I had been made to look ridiculous. Above the waist I was in my school blazer with a smart white shirt and neatly knotted school tie. Below my white shirt tails were visible the flimsy legs of my gym shorts from which my legs extended down to my grey socks and high polished black shoes. There were people around watching me as I came out and, no doubt, thrilling at the sight of Caroline taking my arm as she said “Let’s just check” as she raised my shirt and gently pinched my bottom! “Good. I would be in trouble if I took you to the Head improperly dressed! Come along, boy.” Turning to the awe struck lookers-on she added quite inaccurately, “Run along now, nothing to see”

The walk through the long corridors to the Head’s study was torture. Of course I hung my head in shame and embarrassment. Of course I tried to hide my humiliation by clasping my hands over my bottom but I could hear the gasps, the whispers, the giggles and one very distinct comment “Who’s that? Boy, he’s for it”. Then, recognising me, he went on “It’s old Smithie! Bad luck, Smithie.” Everyone, it seemed, had heard! They were all watching my dismal progress, all making their own guesses as to what I had done, all guessing who was to cane me. Some even thought it was to be Caroline and one boy, who clearly had strange tastes, was heard to say she could give him six anytime she liked. Caroline, blushing happily, hurried me on to the Admin. Block Head wherein lay the Head’s study.

“Wait here, boy” and she knocked and entered. I heard the babble of girlie voices as the door closed behind her.

it must have been ten minutes as I stood, head bowed and hands clasped before me, before the door opened. My heart missed a beat! This was it! But no, a dozen or so excited young ladies emerged from their Prefects’ meeting looking at me with interest as they passed. At the back of the group came Caroline looking distinctly displeased. She paused “The Head will see you soon” she said “Wait there, I have to leave you now” and she stalked off angrily, her gorgeous hips swaying and her pleats swinging! It occurred to me as I stood there in my misery that young Caroline had hoped to be there when I got my comeuppance!

Another miserable five minutes passed, then the door opened again and out stepped the Head Girl. Selina Scudamore was a tall, slim blonde whose schoolgirl’s blazer and gymslip did little to disguise her luscious figure. I had always admired her from afar, hopelessly longing for a closer acquaintance. She smiled! “The Head will see you now – you naughty little boy!” she whispered and held the door open for me!

I looked round the study in fright! There in the centre of the room stood the chair! Beside it, clutching her heavy cane, stood Mrs. Fosberry, the Head Mistress. She was an elegant woman in her early forties, wearing her academic cap and gown. Selina came forward and stood beside her and it occurred to me that if I were to be beaten, and clearly I was, the punishment could not be carried out by two more exquisite and sexy women!

“Get him ready, Selina” and I was led, unresisting, to the chair. Selina pressed on my back. “Bend over, please and grasp the chair seat”. She stepped back and I stole a glance at her lovely face. She licked her lips! “Ready, Head Mistress”

My long wait was over!

FOREWORD
Several years ago I conceived the idea of settling domestic misunderstandings in our home upon a somewhat unique basis--the giving and submitting to carefully regulated corporal punishment.
My idea was to inaugurate a system of cooperative discipline that would sincerely benefit the party at fault and prevent all serious trouble by furnishing a definite, fair and effective method of adjustment. The plan was a wonderful success.
Gratified by the happiness we attained through the operation of our somewhat novel concept, we told a few of our intimate friends of our plan and they, too, adopted the method, reporting to us the same happy results.
The news began to spread, and soon, to my great astonishment, I became besieged with letters from all parts of the country asking for particulars of the "Spencer Spanking Plan," as they termed it.
I shrank from the publicity that all this naturally entailed. It was one thing to tell intimate friends of our arrangement, and quite another to discuss it with strangers.
With reluctance, but feeling perhaps it was my duty, in view of the many earnest appeals for help and advice I received, I answered several of the communications and agreed to send them the information desired--asking a small fee as it took up considerable time and meant not a little work to forward my ideas on the subject to them.
Thus the Spencer Spanking Plan became a definite thing instead of a vague term. I found myself the originator of a System of Cooperative Discipline that bids fair to swoop the nation in a most enthusiastic way.
Of course, and quite naturally, my efforts were misunderstood by many people. I found myself in contact with not a few "cranks" and nit-wits. But on the whole, I secured a splendid reception for my ideas, and I have every reason to believe that my efforts have been productive of much good.
I have never claimed that the Spencer System was an infallible panacea for all the troubles of humanity nor am I of the opinion that it can or should be adopted by everyone.
I do believe, however, that the idea properly operated contains genuine merit, and that most any one CAN derive sincere benefit from it if they adopt the right attitude and live up to the rules and regulations carefully.
I do not prescribe the Spencer Plan as a remedy for you to take. Only physicians are allowed to prescribe and I am not a physician. The law, however, entitles any one to market and sell their BELIEFS and OPINIONS.
The principles of modern corporal punishment, as defined by the Spencer Plan, have helped me--and many other people--and it is my positive BELIEF and OPINION that if you will follow the idea out carefully and properly that it will do the same for you.

MODERN SPANKINGS
Just what is a modern spanking or whipping?
It is a product of today--an act of discipline given under carefully defined and controlled conditions. Brutality is entirely foreign to the idea. Revenge, oppression, force and violence are all frowned upon and do not enter into the Plan in any way.
The idea of a modern spanking is to administer punishment when it is needed--then make up and forget the whole incident.
In this way, every disagreement is effectively closed before it has time to ferment into serious discord--to grow into hatred or an indifference which even a great crisis may not be able to heal. The couple that has every difference out when it arises is not likely to build up an antagonism that an be settled only in the divorce courts.
Also, should modern spankings and whippings be administered, they tend to improve dispositions, increase domestic happiness, create a much more desirable spirit of unselfishness, and eliminate much other unpleasantness.
The operation of the Plan calls for unselfish devotion to high ideals. It calls for willing submission, and loyal obedience to a cooperative system of beneficial discipline.

STARTING THE PLAN INTO OPERATION
The couple who have attained the greatest success with Modern Corporal Punishment Doctrines are careful to insist upon a definite System being used. They do not go at the matter in a hit-or-miss fashion.
The thing to do is this:
Establish causes that will produce the discipline.
Agree upon the matter thoroughly. Don't leave the thing to the whim of the moment. Let your wife know what she will be spanked for, so she can watch her step and strive to avoid the discipline if she can. This is only fair.
Let her do the same for you. You don't want her to whip you for just any old reason--as though you were a child. You want to know in advance just what will produce the discipline. Then you can regulate your conduct accordingly. This is the only sensible way.
Modern women are enthusiastically accepting the modern spanking doctrines. They approve of the idea, because it presents a definite, never-failing solution of settling many perplexing difficulties. They know in advance just what to expect. If they commit a fault they know that they will be disciplined for it. The affair will be adjusted quickly and beneficially--they will be spanked, and then promptly forgiven. The incident cannot wind up in a dangerous quarrel. Bitter words will not be said. The security of their home life--the future of their marriage--will NOT be endangered.
A modern spanking is not a dreadful thing to endure. It hurts a little, of course. It has to hurt to be effective. But there is no danger to it. The temporary hurt is beneficial--it gives them just the lesson they need--and when it is over, THE TROUBLE IS OVER.
Few women, after becoming used to being spanked--the modern way-- would discard the idea and go back to the old way of quarreling for anything in the world!
This has been proven time after time and again.

MODERN WHIPPINGS
Here we have the most unique, but valuable feature of modern discipline.
Women are spanked and men are whipped. The husband spanks his wife, and the wife whips her husband. It is cooperative--not one- sided.
It is the fairest system of discipline ever conceived, and it is conducted under definite RULES and REGULATIONS that safe-guard the practice from every angle.
These Rules and Regulations MUST BE OBSERVED TO THE LETTER--for they safeguard the whole.
I present them without further delay:
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Covering the Administering of Spencer Discipline:
1.--Women are to be spanked, never whipped. Any dictionary will explain the difference. Mine explains as follows: "Whip--to strike with a whip, flog beat, lash. Spank--to slap forcibly on the buttocks." Under Spencer Rules a girl or woman can be spanked with the palm of the hand only. No other spanking agency can be used--not even a light strap or ruler.
2.--Care must be taken not to bruise the flesh, raise welts or injure the body in any way. The punishment should continue long enough, however, to be truly effective and to impart a beneficial lesson.
3.--A spanking must never be administered in anger. Wait until both parties are calm and it can be carried out properly.
4.--The spanking over, the incident must close. To hold anything against a punished partner, after a spanking or whipping has been given, is in direct violation of this whole method of correction.
5.--A spanking or whipping must never be given before a third party under any circumstances, nor is any one to be informed that such discipline is employed without the FREE CONSENT and WILLING Permission of both parties.
6.Requested punishment MUST be given. Here we have a most important and valuable feature of the Spencer Plan. It is not enough to take the discipline without fuss or argument when our punishing partner feels we should have it--we must also ASK FOR IT, when we know or feel that we deserve it!
7.--Men are to be whipped. A light leather strap, a wooden paddle or ruler can be employed to administer the punishment with. Wives must use extreme care, however, not to cut the flesh, raise welts or injure the recipients in any way.
8.--Not more than two spanking or two whippings can be administered in any one day. It is seldom necessary to observe this precaution--but it is put in to cover very unusual and unexpected circumstances. In the extremely rare instances where a wife really merits more than two spankings in any one day, the punishment must be postponed to the next day or to whatever day her husband deems best. The same holds true for the husband who needs such extreme discipline.
9.---The punishment should be inflicted upon the bare skin. In no other way can a careful check be kept on the progress of the spanking or whipping. Remember, the idea of modern corporal punishment is to sting the flesh effectively, without cutting or harming it in any way. To do the job intelligently, therefore, a constant scrutiny of the skin MUST be maintained. A spanking or whipping administered over clothing--even a thin, single garment is "blind punishment." It may be altogether too severe, or not severe enough.
10.--Spencer doctrines call for the PROMPT ACCEPTANCE of the discipline. There must be no argument--no protest--no pleading to be let off--no hard feelings about it!

A WORD OF WARNING!
When a man begins spanking his wife--under the Spencer Plan--he is apt to over do the thing just at first.
The same thing goes for women when they first begin the practice of whipping their husbands. The very novelty of the thing--their new sense of power--often causes them to be too zealous in the application of their rights.
This should be carefully guarded against.
No woman wants to be spanked more often than it is necessary for her own good--and no man wants to be whipped indiscriminately. Too frequent application of the new doctrines destroys their effectiveness.
Remember this carefully.
On the other hand--after a definite list of CAUSES has been established--don't be lax in administering the discipline! Understand what I mean?
First of all--get together and talk things over THOROUGHLY. Have an understanding. Know JUST what you are doing. Agree upon it. Don't leave anything to chance--to the whim of the moment.
Suppose for example, the husband is a fast automobile driver. He likes speed--likes to drive the family car too fast for safety. His wife recognizes the danger, and one of her "Causes" is "Fast Driving." She informs him that she is going to write onto her list that he must not drive over forty miles an hour and if he does, she will whip him for it!
Many women are doing this very thing since the various Safety Campaigns have been inaugurated AND I THINK IT IS A MIGHTY FINE AND SENSIBLE THING TO DO!
All right, she has delivered her ultimatum. If he drives over forty miles an hour, she will whip him. And she should, every time.
That is what I mean about not being lax. When a cause has been violated--when either party NEEDS the discipline--see to it that they get it. Don't be lenient or lax--for their sake! It is the only way you can truly help them.
Let each make out a written list of the faults they wish could be eradicated in the other.
Talk the thing over sensibly. Then sign written Agreements, such as I give you a little later in this Course--and live up to them to the letter. It calls for real SPORTSMANSHIP--real, honest-to- goodness COOPERATION--and any man or woman should be proud to have a marriage partner, big hearted enough, and big souled enough, to display it!

HOW A MODERN SPANKING SHOULD BE GIVEN
A question many people ask, when first taking up modern discipline, is: "How long should a spanking last? About how many slaps should be given?"
There can be no definite answer to such a question. I do not recommend any certain stated number of slaps. The idea is always to continue the spanking until you believe it has been effective without at any time resorting to unnecessary harshness or uncalled for severity.
It has been found that comparatively mild slapping, applied to the buttocks, can be made to sting effectively, without doing one particle of damage or leaving any evidence of unpleasant, harsh treatment. The object is to sting the flesh--make the whole spanking surface hot and tender--so that the repeated application of the descending hand is severe enough to make the recipient realize she is really being disciplined.
By spanking the buttocks long enough, first in one spot and then another, the woman experiences enough stinging discomfort to get a real lesson out of the experience. Her flesh is not harmed--it just becomes pink and sore enough to make her realize she will be very glad when it is over. As most women cry very easily, if the spanking is prolonged just a few minutes--even in this careful and really mild manner-- a few beneficial tears are often shed before the discipline ends.
Here is the program most couples follow:
When a spanking is to be given, the wife is directed to go to her room and get ready. This means she is to undress and wait up in her room until her husband comes up to discipline her.
When her husband enters the room there should be no delay in carrying out the discipline. She must not argue about the matter- -beg to be let off--or show any sign of resentment. She must obey without a word.
It is best not to say a single word during this period.
The wife should quietly place herself across her husband's lap-- after he seats himself on the edge of the bed. Holding her in place, in the age-old spanking position, he begins spanking her. His duty is to do a thorough job-- taking the utmost pains to do it right.
The spanking over--and still without speaking--the husband should let his wife up, then quietly leave the room.
It is the wife's duty--after dressing and drying her tears (if the spanking has provoked any) to go to her husband then, thank him for administering the discipline--and kiss him.
If this seems hard to do, you have lost the true spirit of the Plan and you must MAKE YOURSELF DO IT in order to win it back!
Friendly relations should then be immediately re-established.

IS SUCH DISCIPLINE REALLY HELPFUL?
There can be no question of it. While women know that Spencer Spankings are SAFE SPANKINGS--they are still spankings. And any spanking hurts enough to convey a good-lesson.
It causes the lady to think twice before repeating the offense she is punished for! It is an experience that makes an impression something that is remembered beneficially.
Women are for it because it gives a QUICK ADJUSTMENT of the difficulty--without a tiresome lecture or scolding. Few women, after becoming used to spankings, would discard the idea for anything in the world, but they will all tell you that the discipline is effective, and something certainly to be avoided if you can!
That is why it is effective.

HOW A MODERN WHIPPING SHOULD BE GIVEN
If the husband is to be whipped, he is directed to go to his room and get ready for the punishment
He must obey, without a word of complaint or without uttering a word of argument.
He should undress--then stretch out full length on the bed, face- downwards. He must wait in this position, until his wife enters the room--whether she comes in immediately or keeps him waiting several minutes--as some women do.
As soon as she enters the room, and without speaking, she begins whipping him. Her job is to whip him efficiently--effectively but humanely. She must observe all the rules carefully--but she can, at the same time, make the session quite effective and truly beneficial.
Some women use a wooden paddle only. Others employ a strap. The great majority use both. The paddle first-- to warm up the skin good--then the intelligent application of a leather strap.
A man's belt is often used. Many wives require that this be placed ready for use when the man takes his whipping position.
A modern whipping does a man good for several reasons First of all, there is the beneficial humiliation it causes. It is an act of complete submission. Just to stretch out obediently and get ready for the punishment does him good. Before the paddle is applied a single time--before a single stroke of the strap is delivered--the discipline starts being effective and beneficial for this very reason!
It is an act of surrender--and being a willing gesture of submission--it does more good than millions of spoken words would possibly do!
Don't think for a moment that modern women are not learning how to make their whippings effective, too!
Just because they are using common sense rules that safe-guard the practice from assuming any aspect of brutality--don t think for a single moment that they are administering "play whippings" or that they can't make the discipline something to be sincerely dreaded!
If the idea seems silly to you--if you feel it is a foolish notion to believe that any woman could whip a man effectively especially under the rules and regulations -laid down by this Course--you are in for a distinct surprise!
You do YOUR PART, and you can depend on it, SHE WILL LEARN TO DO HERS.

A WORD TO MARRIED MEN
Many men send for my Plan. This is not to be wondered at. The average man is naturally just as anxious and eager to make his marriage a success as his wife can possibly be.
I send my warmest congratulations to any man who is broad-minded enough to put the Spencer System into effect in his home! I think he is making a gallant gesture--that he has displayed true chivalry toward his marriage partner!
Why?
Because the Spencer Plan is the fairest thing for women ever conceived! It makes them the absolute EQUAL of their husbands--as all true men desire them to be!
Remember, when you sign a Spanking; Agreement with your wife TWO Things Happen. You gain the right to spank her--she gains the right to whip you. It is NOT a one-sided affair!
American women are too independent in spirit to approve of any System that does not give them equality. And right here, Mr. Husband, let me suggest something.
If you sent for this Plan and are eager to put it into operation, why not start it going by taking a whipping right away?
Nothing else you can do will more thoroughly prove to your wife that your intentions are the best-- that you mean to do your part every step of the way. I suggest that you have a heart-to-heart talk. Read the Plan together. Explain that she doesn't need spankings a bit more than you need whippings. Tell her you are sorry for many little things you have said or done since you were married, and that you wish she would discipline you for it--here and now. Tell her she is the ONLY PERSON IN ALL THE WORLD you would grant such a privilege to (which undoubtedly is true). Then ask her to sign Spencer Agreements with you. You list her faults, she lists yours. Agree upon them--then sign the compacts.
Then ask her to give you a whipping. Tell her you want to be the first to receive the new discipline.
She may argue that you should wait until one of the causes listed has been violated, etc. Be firm, however, and tell her you will really feel much better if she will give you a whipping right away.
As your Agreements specify that REQUESTED PUNISHMENT MUST BE GIVEN, she is obliged to comply with your request. And you will find that this Courtesy of extending to her the first right of discipline will be appreciated, and will l do more to gaining her approval and consent to the whole idea than anything else could can possibly.

Modern living has evolved many innovations into use--and to a large extent, revolutionized time worn opinions and habits.
It is impossible to stay the hand of progress. If we were to cling to the set formulas of yesterday and refuse to open our minds new viewpoints--viewpoints that are the natural result of our ever changing civilization--moral stagnation would be the inevitable result. We would become a decadent people and a stupid people.
One of the issues facing modern women in no uncertain manner is CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. An age-old discipline in a new and completely modern dress.
A modem spanking is as much of an improvement over yesterday's flogging, as the airship is over the ox-team, or the radio over the old styled phonograph!
To be spanked today is as acceptable in our social code as to be congratulated! It carries no stigma of disgrace or even novelty. It is being done- it has the stamp of modern approval--it is the correct thing.
If your husband, therefore, wishes to adopt SPENCER DOCTRINES-- congratulate yourself. It means that from now on, you are his absolute EQUAL--and that all danger of an unhappy marriage is removed! Don't dread modern spankings, please!
They will hurt a little, of course--they have to, to do you any good. But Spencer Rules and Regulations protect you from the slightest harm or danger. Read them and you will see this. Your husband cannot whip you. And the only thing he can spank you with is the palm of his open hand.
In return, YOU gain the right to whip him.
Of course, you, too, must observe all Spencer Rules. Brutality has no part in the plan on either side, under any consideration. But you do gain the right to discipline him You can whip him--he can spank you.
You will be surprised at how much good you will derive from Spencer spankings, and you will be equally surprised to see how much good your husband will derive from your whippings. Give the method a six months trial--living up to it faithfully, and you will never wish to go back to the old way, I am sure.

The Bond books are a misogynist's wet dream in which, as Ian Fleming writes in Casino Royale, "women were for recreation" and should be "brutally ravaged, never pandered to or pursued". As the novels progressed, this view of women became increasingly disturbed.
In From Russia with Love, Britain's secret service man in Turkey, Darko Kerim, regales Bond with a tale of how he won a girl in a fight and chained her naked under a table. "When I ate, I used to throw scraps to her ... like a dog," he says. "She had to learn who was master."
Bond, who considers Kerim as one of the few friends he's willing "to take to his heart", is rapt.
According to some accounts, Fleming's attitude to women was little different from Bond's. Anthony Storr, the psychiatrist whom Fleming's first biographer, John Pearson, consulted in the '60s, claimed Fleming's rampant promiscuity was an attempt to assert his own masculinity, as Henry Chancellor notes in James Bond and his World.
"Fleming was a Don Juan who was actually frightened of women, and felt potent only in a position of extreme dominance, when he was able to ravish them," Chancellor writes.
If so, it's no surprise Bond is so unhappy about sexual equality. When a lesbian called Tilly Masterton doesn't succumb to his charms in Goldfinger, Bond delivers a tirade against homosexuality, claiming that giving women the vote has led to a new generation of people, a "herd of unhappy sexual misfits", whose "hormones were all mixed up".
However, there was always the possibility that a real man could straighten them out - which is what happens to Goldfinger's other lesbian, Pussy Galore. Unlike Tilly, Pussy sees the light and, swayed by Bond's machismo, turns from a hardened, independent gangster into "an obedient child". Which, as far as Bond and Fleming are concerned, is exactly how a woman should behave.

Doctor who allegedly spanked woman barred from prescribing drugs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A Port St. Lucie neurologist was barred from prescribing controlled substances after two of his patients died and a third overdosed, state health officials said.

Dr. Bruce E. Platzek, 60, still faces a full hearing before the state Board of Medicine, but he has not practiced since May and no longer has privileges at area hospitals.

"He has demonstrated a willingness to excessively and inappropriately prescribe dangerous and addictive controlled substances with dire consequences to his patients,'' said Masheika Allen, assistant general counsel for the Department of Health.

Platzek declined comment Friday when reached by The Palm Beach Post. His phone number wasn't in service when The Associated Press called Saturday.

Platzek was arrested last month on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge after a patient complained that he went to her Stuart business, pulled down her pants and spanked her with a leather paddle after offering a book on bondage and sadomasochism, according to Martin County sheriff's records.

Sheriff's Detective Maggie Flynn said she notified the state licensing board, but was told investigators couldn't do much if the alleged crime happened outside Platzek's office.

DEAR ABBY: I have been dating a wonderful man I'll call "Zack" for nearly a year. Zack is smart, funny, attractive, well-educated, and has a well-paying job that could provide us with a very good lifestyle if our relationship becomes permanent.

e've been friends for most of our lives, Millie and I, we were brought up together, went to the village school together and then on to High School where we were caned together! We were together at university, began our working lives in the same company, got married at about the same time and settled down with our new husbands in houses not more than a couple of hundred yards apart. All four of us got on very well together and, as young marrieds will, we regularly entertained each other to dinner at the weekends. Very much the DINKY - Double Income No Kids Yet - life style which we all enjoyed.
You may imagine my shock when, on sorting through the clothes for the weekly wash one evening, I found a little hand written note in my husband's shirt pocket. I recognised the writing straight away, the note was from Millie and its tone and content were quite unambiguous, Millie was confirming the time and place for her next rendezvous with my man! I felt sick with a sense of betrayal and my first impulse was to storm through to the sitting room and have it out there and then with my husband. After a few minutes reflection, however, I decided on another course of action - I would have it out with Millie and thereby, perhaps, solve the problem and save our marriages. I put the note in my pocket and, when I had calmed down, went through to the sitting room as if nothing had happened.
I suppose I had always been the stronger character in my friendship with Millie. She had always been happy to follow my lead and, when we had got into trouble it was usually my fault! That time we were caned at school was certainly my fault and, if Millie had not been such a loyal friend, she could have got away with it and left me to face the music alone. I am sure the Head Mistress knew the state of affairs and she gave us every opportunity to explain but Millie was too loyal and I, I am afraid, lacked the guts so we were both sent to stand outside her study to await punishment. Millie, poor dear, howled in anguish but did not 'tell on me'. I watched fascinated. When it was my turn to go over the chair the Head said to me "Don't think for one minute that I do not know what has been going on here. Six for you, my girl, and on the bare bottom!" Made of sterner stuff than dear Millie I took my medicine with just a gasp of pain at each of the six strokes. It was an experience I made sure was never repeated! That caning did not damage our friendship, it may, indeed, have strengthened it and it certainly confirmed the pecking order.
So! I had to arrange to have things out with Millie and I had a plan forming in my mind as to how this would be done. There was to be an international game at Twickenham, England versus France, a needle match if ever there was one. Both the boys were going, of course. I enjoy watching a good rugger match myself but I knew that Millie was not keen. Perfect. The chaps would probably rather be without us that afternoon and I fixed for Millie to come round for tea and a good old chinwag. I was becoming quite excited at the plan I had in mind!
Millie arrived punctually and greeted me as warmly as ever - the deceitful little bitch! I was icy calm and managed to hide from her that anything was wrong. We chatted in the kitchen while I made tea then we took the tray through to the sitting room and put it on the coffee table. I looked around me, the stage was set. Millie, totally at ease, was awaiting an invitation to sit. I took the note from my pocket and opened it. Millie watched with a puzzled expression then, clearly recognising what I had in my hand, the colour drained from her pretty face. I caught her off balance, grabbed her arm and, in one movement seated myself on the settee and pulled her down across my knee! It went much more smoothly than I had dared to hope. Millie howled "What are you doing?" but I am certain that she knew only too well! She made a pathetic attempt to rise but, as you'll no doubt know from personal experience, it is not easy to escape from the over the knee position. Millie began to cry! "I'm sorry" she wailed "It was nothing, really, it was nothing" Slowly and deliberately I pulled her skirt up as she pleaded "No, please, no!" She had on a silk slip which clung to the fine, full curves of her bottom. She was now sobbing pathetically but no longer struggling. I hoisted her slip. "Not my knickers, please, not my knickers" she pleaded. Clearly she now accepted she was in for a spanking. I decided to leave her that last vestige of dignity "You deserve it on the bare" I said "But, alright, you can keep them on". My friend Millie sobbed her thanks and seemed to settle across my lap to take her spanking. She rested her head on her folded arms and, weeping quietly, waited!
I have to admit to a guilty thrill at the feel of Millie across my lap, the sight of her bottom, clad only in the scantiest pair of pants, the sound of her quietly sobbing as she lay there submissive and accepting. Millie gulped through her tears "I'm sorry, Penny, I'm so sorry"
After a while I said "You'd better get up, dear" and Millie stiffly eased her self off my lap and, her hands massaging her battered bottom, stood before like a naughty little girl.

The spanking and the subsequent exile twisted knickers on both sides of the corporal punishment issue as columnists and readers weighed in. For me, though, the most interesting assessment of the situation came from a customer at the Wilco gas and convenience store on Durham's Hillsborough Road. The man's wife was sitting in the passenger seat of the car, reading bits of the story out loud, her sympathies clearly with the child. Her husband serenely pumped gas, his jaw stuck out in amusement. "Aw, come on," he said. "Man oughta be able to spank his own kid. He was just giving that boy the Wal-Mart Special."

M E L I N D A R U L E Y The Wal-Mart Special. Some famous comedian, I forget who, recently called Wal-Mart America's new woodshed. Which I can vouch for as the truth, on account of I spend a lot of time at the Wal-Mart. It wasn't always that way. For most of my adult life, I steered clear of superstores, with their anaesthetized sales clerks and corporate sheen. Then, nearly five years ago, when my first baby was only a few weeks old, I came home to Wal-Mart.
Photo By Alex ManessWhat happened was, the baby had colic. Not your routine evening fussiness, which is bad enough, but full-blown, plaster-crumbling, round-the-clock screaming. It was bad bad bad bad bad. The tabby cat holed up in the linen closet and spat at anyone who reached for a towel. The sweet-tempered dog chewed up and swallowed the rug in the entrance foyer. The lawyer husband left to try a long and complicated case. So it was me and baby Henry, the H-Bomb. One night, I remember, I got up to feed the baby and fell down the steps. I recall thinking, on the way down, that maybe I'd break something and develop an infection and the doctors would have to put me in isolation, sequestered in a cool, green hospital room. I landed unhurt.
A week went by. I took Henry to the doctor, where he obligingly screamed for an hour in the waiting room and another 20 minutes in the examining room. Chinks of mortar fell from the brickwork. The doctor approached the baby warily, like an exorcist. He prodded Henry's tummy and looked at me. I had slept maybe 12 hours in six weeks and his face came in and out of focus. "Nowadays we don't usually medicate colicky babies," he said grimly, writing out a prescription for an intestinal sedative.
I grabbed it and drove to the nearest drug store. Henry was fussing to be nursed, making little pursy-sucky sounds. The pharmacist was a tidy woman in a white coat. Her makeup and hair were perfect, her skirt crisp, her eyes alert and intelligent. I envied her the way you envy a supermodel in a magazine. I wanted her life. She took the prescription. "You understand, this will make the baby sleepy," she said sternly. I tried to understand. The pharmacist's words seemed like big handles I struggled to grasp as they went by. Sleepy? Wasn't that good?
When I bent to write the check, milk streamed down my arms, smeared the check, dripped on the floor. As I walked out the door, a clerk shot me a nasty look, got out the WET FLOOR sign and went for a mop.
That afternoon, I put the medicine in a cabinet and vowed not to open it. Still, a change had occurred. I had a colicky baby and I'd run straight for drugs. I wasn't going to be a perfect mother after all. I looked at Henry fussing in his little bucket seat. We needed diapers and a tube of Balmex. There was spit-up in my hair and my socks didn't match. My blouse smelled like sour milk. There was only one thing to do. Me and the H-Bomb went to Wal-Mart.
Now, four and a half years later, the whole family are regulars, devoted to the Ur-womb of one-stop shopping. Myself, I've come to understand that entire lives unfold at the Wal-Mart. I've watched people court each other in the hardware section, argue in household goods, make up next to the laxative shelf. I've witnessed family dramas unfold at the blood-pressure cuff, seen meltdowns in the seasonal goods aisle, heavy petting in the fabrics. I once saw a woman storm off into the parking lot after her husband insisted on buying a camouflage jumpsuit when she needed the money for a curling iron. Afterward, a clerk who had overheard the spat walked over and told me that just a couple of weeks ago he'd watched a couple about break up over a box of lemon-scented bleach. "I never worked anywhere," he said, "where you get to know so much about how to treat a lady. For real, it's been a learning place."
For real. And now that I've got two small children I'm especially interested in learning about parenting. Of course, I have at my disposal the usual sources of advice: grandparents and T. Berry Brazleton and Penelope Leach and scores of mothers who are wise and gentle. These resources are helpful, but they lack a certain authority, the gritty, real-life, hand-held-camera parenting you see at Wal-Mart. It was there, for instance, that I learned it's OK to open a bag of Cheetos you have no intention of buying in order to keep a child happy. That children will occupy themselves for long stretches examining the rifle scopes in the hunting section. That the wizened little man in lawn-and-garden means no harm when he gives your children handfuls of Chicklets.
The last year or so, I've been especially interested in seeing how other parents discipline their children. My own attempts at reasoning, dialoguing, cajoling, pleading, bargaining and groveling, I've noticed, sometimes fall short. Plus which, I was intrigued by that story out of Middle Creek Elementary School, the support that Raleigh father got for spanking his kid. So I've begun paying attention to the Wal-Mart Special.
I understand all the arguments against spanking, but I've always suspected there was something to it if you could figure out how to do it right. Most child-raising books, realizing parents are going to pop their children once in a while, offer grudging advice: Don't spank in anger; lightly smack the soft part of the fanny; always give a hug afterward. All of which strikes me as somewhat cold-blooded and, for the child, weirdly confusing. What happened to taking a naughty child by the ear into his or her room dropping them over your knee, baring the chubby little cheeks and upgrading the color from naughty white to behaving red? I was confused for so long when all I needed to do was "listen" to Mother Nature and do what came naturally.
Anyway, one day at the Wal-Mart I watched a woman spank her little boy after he pulled a column of greeting cards off the display stand. The child had been trying to get his mother's attention for several minutes, tugging at the hem of her skirt before he gave up and went after the cards. Another woman, obviously the first woman's sister, was clearly upset by the spanking. Her own child, a little girl, was picking up the toppled cards and tossing them into the air. The first woman gave her sister a hard look and said, "You better learn how to do it, missy thing, or you'll be sorry." Then, to demonstrate, she held one hand up in the air like she was taking an oath. "You just apply this" (pointing to the palm of her hand), "to that" (pointing to her son).
The second woman wasn't impressed. "Maybe you should give a class in spanking'," she said acidly.
"Yeah, well, somebody ought to and they should start with you."
I have no idea how to teach spanking, but I can give a pretty good description of the Wal-Mart Special, which goes something like this:
1. Prelude to a Spanking.
Every Wal-Mart spanking is preceded by a lengthy interval of misbehaving: whining, fussing, running wild, clinging, sleeve tugging, sulking, screaming or begging. Although this misbehavior is on the part of the child (spankee), it is occasionally performed by the mother's (Spanker"s) boyfriend or husband. In any case, it is the child who is spanked. (Men rarely spank their children at the Wal-Mart, though they may on occasion reach down and "pop" them.) The most accomplished whiner I've ever witnessed was a small girl who clung possum-style to her mother's back, waving a bag of gummy bears and sobbing "I wannum, mama, I wannum" for 15 horrifying minutes. During the prelude, the spanker becomes increasingly agitated and/or grim-faced. There are frequent admonishments to "act right" and threats of bodily harm, which the spankee either ignores or adds to her load of grievances.
2. The Pursuit.
Toward the end of the prelude, something in the spanker snaps. This snap is sometimes occasioned by a new form of misbehavior (like pulling greeting cards off the stand); more often it is a result of repeated low-grade agitation. Whatever the case, it takes the spankee one half of one second to register the change and take off down the nearest aisle, dodging shoppers, carts and display cases. Although the spankee is younger, faster and more agile than the spanker, there is in his panicked skedaddling a certain futility, rather like the doomed flight of a gazelle before the lioness. A mother intend on blistering your bottom is a force of Nature that is stronger than an Army of Dr. Spocks.
3. Positioning the Spankee.
It is here that the water gets hot, from the perspective of child-care advocates, horrified onlookers and shoulder dislocation specialists. The spanker grabs the spankee by the elbow or ear and yanks him firmly to the nearest place she can sit down and put the spankee over her knee and you better get out of the way. The spankee squirms, buckles, kicks, flails and arches. If the child is large or heavy, his legs may drag on the floor; ideally, though, he will be kept dangling above the floor like a rug about to be beat.
4. The Spanking.
A minimum of five and more like ten smacks, to the behind.
5. The Aftermath.
Depending on the violence of the spanking, the spanker may be forced to deal with the reaction of onlookers. I watched a spanking two weeks ago at the Hillsborough Wal-Mart that stopped traffic on the chips-and-candy aisle. At the end, the spanker looked up, put her hands on her hips and declared in a loud voice that she had the right to spank her children any time she wanted any way she wanted and if there was one thing she hated it was people looking at her when she spanked her children and it was a free country last time she looked and she had a right and if you did not like it she would sit right back down and form a line to the right.
In the absence of spectator reaction, the Wal-Mart spanker lets loose a volley of verbal abuse on the spankee, the primary message of which is "I told you I was gonna tan your hide if you didn't act right." The spanker usually goes on to recite a litany of the spankee's immediate crimes, plus one or two generalizations about his character. The spankee is told that the immediate crimes have been paid for but the character flaws must be delt with when she gets the spankee home by way of the belt or brush. The spankee is then hauled through the check-out counter and out the door.
The woman who spanked her son at the greeting card display was not without support. Although her sister objected, a third woman stepped in to defend the spanking. She held a box of scented candles in one hand and offered a brief homily on the benefits of a good spanking. "You see a young person that's got his act together," she said, "and that's a person what's had his hide tanned once or twice."
"Isn't it the truth?" the other mother said.
"Mmmm hmmm," the scented candle lady said. "And nowadays everybody's against it. You can't look sideways at your children anymore without somebody saying something about it. Corporal punishment is a disappearing art."
